I've worked with Josh Smith in different capacities over the last 9 years. Josh's drive for creativity, elegant design, and effective communication is evident in all his work, and I've learned a ton from working with him. Needless to say, I was pleased to be a part of developing his new personal portfolio site for Wonderfull Studios. My involvement included front and back-end development based on layouts designed by Jesse Bennett-Chamberlain. The content management system was heavily customized for easy-peasy maintenance.

Project Summary

Joshua Wilderness Institute is a year-long program run by Hume Lake for college-aged young adults. It was great working with Rich Ferreira (Dean of Students) and Chester McLaughlin (Marketing Technologist) again, as I had back when I was on staff at Hume. The JWI staff had already been faithfully blogging for 3 good years, so it was important to keep the existing content in tact while making a better shell for it to live in. We redesigned the website from the ground up to better accommodate the content, reflect the organization's new brand, and to more effetively harness social media channels.

Project Summary

Mariano is more than a photographer; he's an artist. While working on his site, I was often distracted for way too long as I browsed through his photo galleries. Mariano designed his own page layouts, passed them on to me for the development. After customizing the content management system, Mariano was able to maintain the content easily. After 3 years, the site is still looking great, which is a testatment to Mariano's mad design skills.

Project Summary

GTI offers all-inclusive, Bible-based, guided experiences through the holy land and middle east. Their focus is not to merely show off touristy landmarks, but to view the land through the lens of scripture. Redesigning GTI's website was in conjunction with Rich Ferreira and Chester McLaughlin, who masterminded the project. We redesigned site to improve usability, social media integration, and aesthetics. The content management system was customized for for user-friendly blogging and content management. I'm happy to report that GTI's website visits increased exponentially after the launch.

Project Summary

Mark Janzen is a seasoned and well-respected photographer based here in the valley. I met Mark through Mariano Friginal, and I was privileged to redesign his site. Prior to the redesign, the site was ranked nicely on search engines and Mark had a good 2-3 years of blog posts that needed to stay in tact. Not messing those things up a high priority. The outcome boasts elegant photo galleries that function on all devices, an improved workflow for managing blog posts and photos, and an online booking system.

Not For Sale Campaign has been delightful to work with. They have a noble cause, and they think outside the box with everything they do. Back in 2009 I helped them redesign their website from the ground up, and since then, they've continued to harness the web as an effective means of communication. Durham Construction Company does all kinds of stuff I wish I knew how to do, like build things, hammer nails straight, and drive big tractors. Fortunately, they still needed a softy like me to help redesign their website, which had since deteriorated into a mess of broken links and dated design. I redesigned website front end to improve usability, accessibility, SEO, and overall aesthetics, and customized the content management system to handle the specific requirements for displaying projects, pages, and news articles on the site. Just Business incubates and scales for-profit enterprises for the purpose of creating social benefit. Just Business enterprises provide financial fuel for purpose-driven organizations while attacking the root cause of vulnerability: poverty. Creating Just Business' website started with design comps from Tiffany Morgan Design, which I then translated into code, and customized the content management system for easy maintenance.

I enjoy working with clients from different fields. This being the first engineering firm I've worked with, I learned a bit about the folks who build things like parking lots, detention basins, and (coolest of all) military battle courses. I'm hoping they'll give me a discount on the latter when I decide to re-landscape my backyard.
